We don't shout about every grant we win, but over a period of six weeks in July/august 2025, the amazing Carolyn Trafford FdA, PgC, helped five different clients secure grants, that will make a significant difference to each organisation's work.
That's worth celebrating!
Our clients are based all over the UK, and their projects were all extremely diverse, as were the funders approached.
Grant recipients included:
* A charity in Burton-on-Trent secured £13.5k to provide sports programmes for disadvantaged young people,
* A Sandwell charity secure £20k for volunteer coordination,
* A Milton Keynes charity secured £25k to assist vulnerable young people into training and employment,
* An Aylesbury charity secured a £20k and a second £35k grant to pay for the resources needed to run youth volunteering programmes over the next 3 years,
* And finally, a Sandwell based CIC secured £20k to build hope by providing warm spaces, developing employability and addressing food poverty.
In the current climate of ever-increasing competition for funds, we remind organisations not to overlook these more modest grants. Whilst these may not be huge awards, often these are the most accessible and used well; they can make a huge difference.
The key to winning any grant is to:
1) Identify the right funder(s) based on a careful review of individual funder's eligibility criteria and your funding needs.
2) Understand what each funder wants to achieve,
3) Ensuring that your project can deliver the outcomes/impacts that a funder wants (this isn't about bending projects to fit funders, rather it's about finding the right match).
4) Prepare a strong bid that responds to all of the funder's requirements and clearly explains the difference their investment will make.

HeawardSports Ltd is a company I have worked with on several projects now and I have found that they...
Andrew taught me so much when it came to capital projects. I enjoyed working alongside him during the renovation of the Wallace Centre, which went on to be a hugely successful project. Highly recommended.
I would encourage any charity, CIC or any organisation whose mission is to make a difference to get in touch with Andrew. From accessing grant funding to crowdfunding or sponsorship, Andrew's experience will be invaluable to your organisation.
Heaward Solutions has provided bid writing support for two charities I've been involved with, both focused on developing young people, but of different sizes, staff teams, and priorities. Their support has enabled some crucial successes that we'll build upon to grow and develop our work. What they do well enables us to focus on the work we do well, genuine partnership working.
I had the distinct pleasure of working with Andrew Heaward on two successful rounds of grant funding, and I am thrilled to offer my highest recommendation for him.
Andrew recently supported us with a large, multi-year bid for core funding for our charity. We have not worked with a bid writer before, and we were so glad we did, as thanks to Andrew's expert approach we seamlessly progressed to the stage 2 site visit, eventually securing over £120k.
Andrew has worked closely with the Senior Leaders of Burton YMCA in delivering a fundraising strategy. I would have no hesitation in recommending Andrew to any Business Leader or Charity Leader in developing and delivering a fundraising strategic programme that will help you and your organisation.
I've worked with Andrew on a recent fundraising project that has both generated significant income and raised awareness in our chosen market place. The resulting raised profile within our sector has meant that we are now experiencing far more inbound calls from the education sector with potential clients both wanting to talk to us and wanting to place orders. I can not praise Andrew and his team highly enough
Andrew was our fundraising consultant for a major capital project. His work was excellent throughout, starting with in-depth research of funding opportunities and then writing applications and other funding documents that really did the job. His knowledge was excellent, he was always available to give advice or make last-minute changes, and got a lot done in a quick time. Thoroughly recommended.
Andrew has been amazing, very professional, knowledgeable yet very realistic. He has provided 5* service in our opinion, and we are very looking forward to having Andrew support and guide us further in the coming months/years in this very exciting growth time of our organisation.
Their expertise in effective fundraising, strategy, monitoring and evaluation, management, and marketing has helped our charity maximise its impact and strengthen its ability to thrive. I am incredibly grateful for their knowledge, patience, and encouragement. I would highly recommend Heaward Solutions to any organisation seeking expert and compassionate support.
